The GAI is a member of the European Geothermal Energy Council (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.egec.org\/\">EGEC<\/a>) and of the Global Geothermal Alliance (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.globalgeothermalalliance.org\/\">GGA<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>The GAI promotes the development of geothermal energy in Ireland in:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Research<\/h3>\n<p>GAI encourages its members to get involved and can show how to access EU and national funding &amp; supports ongoing geothermal research activities throughout Ireland.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Education<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Conducting and participating in seminars, field trips, conferences, presentations to the public &amp; private sector.<\/li>\n<li>GAI is involved with measures to accredit and certify heat pump manufacturers, installers and suppliers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Promotion<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Publication of GAI newsletter<\/li>\n<li>Organising\u00a0GAI field trips, conferences &amp; workshops<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Policy Support<\/h3>\n<p>Submissions to Government consultations in Ireland and Northern Ireland<\/p>\n<p>Participation in Geothermal Policy consultative committees including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Department for Economy (NI) -\u00a0 <em>Geothermal Advisory Committee Members (NI GAI)<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Department of Environment, Climate &amp; Communications - <em>Geothermal Advisory Committee Members (DECC - GAC)<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Development<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Over 60% of ground source heat pumps installed in Ireland over last 5 yrs have been by GAI members.<\/li>\n<li>Research and promotion of low enthalpy hydro geothermal energy based on shallow groundwater now utilized in numerous public buildings in throughout Ireland.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][\/et_pb_section]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>About UsThe Geothermal Association of Ireland (GAI) was formed in January 1998 to Promote the Development of Geothermal Resources in Ireland.
