Donegal<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/dev.geothermalassociation.ie\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/IotY-2013-Borris-Nursing-Home.pdf\">Borris Lodge Nursing Home<\/a>, Co. Carlow<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/dev.geothermalassociation.ie\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/IotY-2013-Cliffs-of-Moher-Visitor-Centre.pdf\">Cliffs of Moher Visitor\u2019s Centre<\/a>, Co. Clare<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/dev.geothermalassociation.ie\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/IotY-2013-Summary-Vistakon-Ireland.pdf\">Vistakon Ireland<\/a>, Co. Limerick.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In presenting the awards, John Burgess, Chairman of the GAI, said: \u201cAll of the finalists in the Brecan Mooney Installation of the Year competition have demonstrated that their geothermal energy installation achieved a marked improvement in performance compared to conventional methods. The lower operating cost has helped these businesses prosper during tough economic times. Also, the move away from fossil fuel fired heating systems to ground sourced thermal energy transfer systems powered from a low(er) carbon electricity supply that is making major reductions in CO<sub>2 <\/sub>related emissions. The recent (over last 15 years) halving of the electricity generation and transmission network's Primary Energy Factor for delivered electrical energy, has also made a major contribution to reducing the impact of these businesses\u2019 operations on climate change.<\/p>\n<p>There is a clear message coming through all of the installations, in that the geothermal energy systems have helped sustain their businesses.
